MS Dhoni run-out

New Zealand defeated India by 18 runs to reach their second consecutive World Cup final. New Zealand was termed as an underdog before the match started but they proved everyone wrong as they defeated the top team to reach the final.

New Zealand bowlers bowled superbly to defend a low score but it was that one throw by Martin Guptill to dismiss MS Dhoni that changed the fate of India reaching the final. The incident took place in the 49th over when Dhoni after hitting a six in the very first ball of Lockie Ferguson. Dhoni hit the third ball towards the short fine-leg and ran for a single but then he wanted to come back on strike by taking another run and that’s when Martin Guptill fired the ball quickly at the keeper’s end and Dhoni just fell short.

Ferguson then bowled Bhuveneshwar Kumar out and it was all over for India. It took New Zealand just another couple of balls to finish the game and qualify for the final.

New Zealand is now in the final and it will be tomorrow’s semi-final two between Australia and England that will decide their opponent.
