On this day in 1947 Sir Don Bradman scored more runs than the whole Indian team combined

In December 1947, the then Indian team was touring Australia for Test cricket and the legendry Australian batsman Sir Donald Bradman scored more runs than the visiting team combined.

Sir Don Bradman scored a total of 185 runs before he was dismissed hit-wicket by Lala Amarnath. Australia declared the innings at 382 for 8. Indian team in total managed to score only 156 runs in two innings, hence Bradman scored 29 runs more than the whole Indian team.


India was defeated by an innings with Ernie Toshack finishing with match figures of 11 for 31.

India and Australia will play a four-match Test series starting from December 6 in Adelaide, Australia. India is currently playing a practice match against Cricket Australia XI, where Virat Kohli, Prithvi Shaw and three other batsman scored a fluent half-century.

Earlier this month, India and Australia played a T20I series that was levelled at 1-1. Australia won the first match of the series by 4 runs (DLS method), second match was abondoned due to rain and India won the third match by six wickets, where Virat Kohli played a match winning strike and made 61 runs of 41 balls.
