New Zealand cricketer retires at 68, says 'Naenae Express has run out of steam'

New Zealand cricketer Ewen Chatfield have taken off his shoes now from his cricketing career. Chatfield has decided to end his career at the same place where he started back in February 1968. The 68-year-old made his debut in international cricket with a Test match against England in 1975.

The medium-pacer represented his national team in 43 Tests and 114 one-day internationals (ODIs). Chatfield made his last appearance for New Zealand in 1989, and called time on his career after 51 years. Chatfield has 123 Test and 140 ODI wickets under his name.

After retiring from international cricket, Chatfield was playing club cricket for Naenae Old Boys. Chatfield in an interview to stuff.co.nz said, “It might seem silly but I have standards, even at 68, and if I can’t play to those standards I thought it is time to flag it.”
