Former Indian captain MS Dhoni might not be at his best in international cricket but that doesn’t stop him from making records. MS Dhoni set two world records in the recently concluded match against South Africa which India won comfortably.

MS Dhoni equaled Pakistani wicket-keeper Moin Khan’s record of 139 List A stumpings. MS Dhoni dismissed Andile Phehlukwayo with his brilliant stumping off Yuzvendra Chahal’s delivery. When MS Dhoni stepped out to play India’s first World Cup 2019 match he had 138 List A stumpings under his belt.

MS Dhoni also surpassed New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum’s record of most World Cup dismissals. MS Dhoni took his tally to 33 as he and McCullum had 32 dismissals each before the start of the match. Australia’s Adam Gilchrist and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara are the only wicket-keepers who have more dismissals than Dhoni. Gilchrist and Sangakkara have 52 and 54 dismissals respectively.

India defeated South Africa by 6 wickets after Faf du Plessis chose to bat first and put up 229 runs on board. India chased down the target quite easily as vice-captain Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant century and remained unbeaten till the game was over.

Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal played a crucial role in restricting South Africa to a low total. Bumrah has India a brilliant start with the new ball as he took two wickets from five overs. Chahal took a four-wicket haul and played an important role in the middle overs for India.
