Former India captain MS Dhoni is a big shot in India as he gave the country to rejoice on another World Cup victory after 28 long years. MS Dhoni played the best knock of his career in the finals of 2011 World Cup against Sri Lanka. Dhoni finished the game in style as he hit a six to score the last few runs and give India another World Cup.
The bat with which Dhoni hit the six is part of history and it was auctioned for a whopping amount of Rs 72 lakhs. The aim was to raise funds for Dhoni's wife's charitable organisation - Sakshi Foundation - that works for under-privileged children in India.
The bat was sold to an investment company – RK Global based out of India. The bat was auctioned at a hotel in London in 2011.
Dhoni scored an unbeaten 91 with the bat in a crucial match and that too in World Cup final. Dhoni was not in great form prior to that match but after India lost few early wickets early in the game he decided to promote himself up the order and the decision didn’t backfire.
India defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets in the final in Mumbai, chasing down a target of 275 for the loss of four wickets with 10 balls to spare.
