Chennai Super Kings missed their skipper MS Dhoni for the second time this season. MS Dhoni was ruled out against Mumbai Indians due to high fever. Dhoni did not play two games this season and CSK lost both of them.
MS Dhoni is the backbone of Chennai Super Kings and his high fever means his chances of playing in the IPL matches are less. Dhoni was selected for the 15-member World Cup squad that will travel to England in late May this year.
Dhoni will have to keep himself fully fit before the World Cup as the team will be relying on his wicket-keeping services. Dhoni also hinted at not playing IPL matches as the World Cup is more important for him.
Chennai Super Kings suffered a huge loss as Mumbai Indians beat them by 46 runs. CSK was bundled out for 109 runs which is also their lowest total ever at Chennai’s Chepauk stadium. CSK lost their first home game of the season in absence of MS Dhoni.
Chennai Super Kings have already qualified for the play-offs and if MS Dhoni doesn’t recover it is going to be a big headache for the defending champions. CSK has won three titles under Dhoni’s captaincy and are looking to do it again this year.
