Former India and Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s sabbatical from cricket is all set to conclude as the wicketkeeper batsman gears up to get back for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, starting 19th September in the UAE.
A day following Suresh Raina told MS Dhoni’s helicopters are expected to be out soon, it appear to be as if his former India captain has taken Raina’s words seriously.
According to reports, MS Dhoni has hit the field in a bid to get ready for the IPL 2020, hitting the JSCA indoor facility before the IPL. Because of Lockdown and social distancing, there aren’t many bowlers available in Ranchi at present.
“He (Dhoni) visited the JSCA International Stadium Complex last week. He practised at the indoor facility using bowling machine,” a Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) office-bearer told the New Indian Express. “He did batting practice for two days over the weekend, but has not returned since. I honestly don’t know what are his plans or whether he will come back for training. We only know he has visited the facility for practice.”
As per reports, MS Dhoni used to practice regularly at the indoor facility for the IPL ahead of the coronavirus induced lockdown. With the Chennai franchise expected to come together in Chennai on 20th August before the players head to the UAE, MS Dhoni has few weeks in his hand to get the best out of the training facility in Ranchi.
Earlier this year, MS Dhoni was part of the scheduled month-long training camp, which did not last long because of the Covid-19 outbreak.
