Mohammed Shami is making it very hard for his skipper Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri to replace him in the upcoming matches. Shami has already taken 13 wickets from the three matches he has played in place of injured Bhuveneshwar Kumar.
Mohammed Shami became the second Indian bowler to take three consecutive four-wicket hauls in ODI cricket and first Indian to do it in World Cup. Shami is second international bowler to achieve this milestone after Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi did it in 2011 World Cup. Afridi did it against Kenya, Canada and Sri Lanka, while Shami did it against Afghanistan, West Indies and England.

Shami recently became the second Indian bowler to take a hat-trick in a World Cup match after Chetan Sharma did it in 1987. Shami achieved this milestone in his very first game of World Cup 2019 against Afghanistan. Shami became the sixth Indian bowler to take a five-wicket-haul in World Cup after Kapil Dev, Robin Singh, Venkatesh Prasad, Ashish Nehra and Yuvraj Singh.
England won the toss and elected to bat first against India. England batsmen put up a mammoth target on board as two of their batsman scored half-centuries and one scored a fantastic century.
