Mithali Raj describes struggling incident says, 'I've travelled unreserved in train'

Indian women's cricket team captain Mitali Raj recently said that when she started her career, she had to face many difficulties. Mithali said that as an Indian player she has traveled in the general coach on the train. At that time she was a member of the Indian women's cricket team, in spite of this, she did not get all the facilities that would have been involved with the male players.

She told that once she had traveled from Hyderabad to Delhi with her waiting ticket. She did not have enough power to make a seat for herself. With this she said that even though I had to undergo conflicts, during that time I got an opportunity to make myself better and stronger. As a woman, the rest of my teammates and I had to face so many challenges in the beginning that we became mentally strong for the future.

“There were a lot of struggles in my journey. Now we are under the BCCI, but that time (when women cricketers were not under the board), the normal basic facility which a sports person gets to play even (we did not get). As an India cricketer, I have travelled unreserved from Hyderabad to Delhi by train, as an India player,” Mithali said at a session of ‘We The Women’ initiative.

Mithali has batted with more than 50 average in ODIs and Test cricket. At T20 cricket, her averages is 40. Simultaneously, Mithali Raj is the first woman cricketer to score 6000 runs in the history of women's ODI cricket.
