Australian batsman Steve Smith has recently reclaimed ICC No.1 Test batting position from Indian skipper Virat Kohli. It took just three innings for Smith to topple Virat Kohli as No.1 batter in ICC Test rankings. The debate of being best batsman in the world has already started and many cricketers have put forward their point.
South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada has said that Steve Smith might have taken the No.1 Test batting position but Virat Kohli takes the cake.
“Virat Kohli has proven that he is the best batsman in white-ball format. He is already regarded as a great of the game with some pedigree,” Rabada told PTI.
Steve Smith was banned for a year after he was found guilty of tampering with the ball during Australia tour of South Africa in 2018. Steve Smith made his comeback in international cricket this year and played his first Test match against England recently.
“The goal is to compare ourselves with the best. India have been a successful team over the years. There’s been some changes and our team is now a lot younger. It’s a challenge for those who haven’t played here earlier,” acknowledged Rabada, who has already played over 100 international games across formats,” Rabada said before playing against India.
India and South Africa will play a three-match T20I and Test series starting from September 15 in Dharamshala.
