The infamous ‘mankad’ incident has been doing rounds since it happened in Indian Premier League match between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab. The opinions on the controversy have divided the cricket fraternity and the fans on both sides.

England wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler finally revealed what he told to Ravichandran Ashwin after the incident. Buttler was definitely not happy after the incident occurred in the first match of Rajasthan Royals, where he was looking good with the bat.

Buttler was dismissed for 69 off 43 after which his team went on to lose their opener game against Kings XI Punjab. Buttler’s wicket was considered as the match turning point because all other batsmen failed to perform.

While speaking to Times of India, Buttler said, “I just asked him if he really wishes to play the game that way. Whether he thought it was the right thing to do. And he obviously thought it was, in his opinion.”

“I saw the video. But it’s all done now and I’ve moved on. I was disappointed. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does it is disappointing. Unfortunately I have got out in a similar fashion before as well, so I will make sure it doesn’t happen again,” Buttler further added.

This was not the first time when Jos Buttler was mankaded. In 2014, Buttler was run-out in a similar fashion by Sri Lanka's Sachithra Senanayake in an ODI series.

Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin meanwhile defended his action as he said that his team-mates supported his action. He also said that, “I am very happy that former and current England players are coming out in support of Jos, but my countrymen have also stood up for me and it is absolutely fair to support your own.”

Kings XI Punjab are currently sitting at number three on the points table as they have won four out of the six matches they have played. Punjab defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in their latest encounter at home to take eight points under their name. While Rajasthan Royals are at number seven on points table having won only one out of the five matches they have played in this season.
