Former Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad attacked Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for wanting to boycott Pakistan in ICC World Cup. Miandad’s comment came days after Indian fans and former cricketers asking BCCI to not play against Pakistan in the most awaited 50-over tournament.
Javed Miandad said, “ICC will not accept this foolish and childish move by BCCI. There is absolutely no chance of ICC listening to BCCI as its constitution allows members the right to participate in its events.”
Former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly and his teammate Harbhajan Singh said that India should cut all sporting ties with Pakistan and should boycott them in upcoming cricket World Cup.
“I think Sourav wants to run for elections in the coming days or wants to become the chief minister as it is just a publicity stunt to gain the attention of his country mates,” he said. “We should not bother with India’s cowardly acts instead we must focus on improving ourselves.”
A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy of 78 vehicles carrying 2,547 soldiers was attacked by a car bomb in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on February 14. More than 40 CRPF jawans were killed and many others were injured. This is termed as the worst attack on Indian soldiers since 1989 insurgency started in the valley.
