Indian paceman Jasprit Bumrah found his line and length back after two below par performence with the ball against New Zealand in the recently concluded T20I series on Sunday.
The 26-year-old became the first bowler in Twenty20 International cricket to bowl seven maiden overs, surpassing Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Kulasekara who had bowled six maiden overs during his 58 match long career.
Jasprit Bumrah shattered a world record in his formidable spell of three for 12 from four overs as team India accomplished a significant whitewash over New Zealand, becoming the first team to secure a series sweep in a bilateral five match T20I series.
For his outstanding performance with the ball, Jasprit Bumrah was named the player of the match.
In the match, skipper Virat Kohli was rested as Rohit Sharma came back for the fifth and final T20I to lead his side.
The men in blue won the toss and decided to bat but Sanju Samson failed once again on a good batting pitch. Rohit then joined KL Rahul in the middle and the duo scored 88 runs for the second wicket.
Late flourish from Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey hepled team India put up a testing total of 163/3 in stipulated 20 overs.
This is the first time ever in T20I history that a team has won all the games in a five-match bilateral series.
