Indian pacer Ishant Sharma scored his maiden international half-century on Saturday. Ishant’s half-century came against West Indies in the first innings of the second Test match. Ishant’s maiden fifty came 12 years after his international debut.

Ishant, who had made his international debut in 2007, took 157 innings to score his first international fifty. Ishant's previous highest score in international cricket was 31*(106), scored against Sri Lanka in a Test match in 2010.

India is currently controlling the second Test match and sitting on the driver’s seat. India scored 416 runs with the help of Hanuma Vihari’s maiden Test century and his partnership with Ishant Sharma. West Indies batsmen were demolished by the Indian pace attack led by Jasprit Bumrah who took 6 wickets and his maiden Test hat-trick.

West Indies is currently trailing behind by 299 runs after the end of the first innings. India won the first Test match and is leading the two-match series by 1-0. India had earlier outclassed West Indies in both t20i and ODI series by winning both of them without losing a single match.
