Ishant Sharma has been a driving force for the Indian Test team for some years now. He has been picking up wickets consistently. In the ongoing Test against West Indies, he was once again at his optimum as he claimed eight wickets to his name. The men in blue leads the two match Test series 1-0.
Ishant Sharma has a chance of creating history by shattering the legendary Kapil Dev’s benchmark of taking 155 wickets in Test matches for India outside Asia. Ishant Sharma is presently at second spot alongside Kapil Dev. Anil Kumble leads the pile with 200 Test wickets outside Asia.
During the first innings of the first Test against West Indies, Ishant seized his ninth five wickets haul and also played an important role in toppling the Windies batting line up.
After the game, Ishant Sharma credited Jasprit Bumrah and stated, “There was rain and after that the ball became wet and there was nothing happening (with the ball). So, we thought we can bowl with a cross seam. There was a bounce. Actually, Bumrah told me that we can try cross-seam since there is nothing happening.”
“The attempt was, if you bowl out the opposition as soon as possible, it is good for your team. We tried that we were able to do that.”
India will go face to face the Caribbean side in the second test, starting 30th August in Jamaica. India have already won the T20 and the ODI series and will be looking to whitewash the West Indies.
