BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), the world's most prominent cricket board was recently in the headlines due to its website. Yes, BCCI has not updated its website domain on time, due to which it went down for about 18 hours on 4 February 2018. As the domain was valid from 2 February 2006 to 2 February 2019.

As per the reports, the date for updating the domain was 3 February 2018, but it was not renewed on time. Apart from this, the most embarrassing thing was that the website became offline on Sunday when the Indian Cricket team was playing the second ODI against the South Africa in the SuperSport Park. However, the site started working on Monday as the issues get solved.

According to the BCCI official, the site domain was in the name of the former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi, who was considered as an accused due to the financial irregularities during his serving term to BCCI. As Modi did not pay the payment on time to update the website, due to which the website was showing an error.

Lalit Modi was banned from the BCCI for the lifetime since 2010, he was the one who had bought the domain name in 2008. There were 22 charges on him due to which he was suspended. He had recently quit cricket administration completely. Although the case is pending in the Bombay High Court.
