IPL 2021 Auction: Sold to CSK for Rs. 9.25 cr, Krishnappa Gowtham becomes most expensive uncapped Indian player

The Karnataka all-rounder Krishnappa Gowthan was bagged by Chennai Super Kings for a massive Rs 9.25 crore at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 auction. The 32-year-old went on to become the most expensive uncapped Indian player in IPL history. Gowtham is a right handed lower order batsman and an off-spinner, he came into the auction at a base price of Rs 20 lakh.

Gowtham came under the spotlight during the 2018 IPL season with his six-hitting ability. Overall in the IPL, he has amassed 186 runs from 24 matches but 15 of those games came in 2018 where he smashed 126 runs at a strike rate of 196.87.

Earlier, Krishnappa Gowtham featured for Rajasthan Royals in 2018 and 2019. He was picked by Punjab Kings for the IPL 2020 season.

The Karnataka all-rounder has featured in 62 T20s in his career and has cumulated 594 runs at a strike rate of 159.24. He also has 41 wickets under his belt in the shortest format at 35.41 and an economy rate of 7.60 runs per over.

Krishnappa Gowtham comes in as another all-rounder in a CSK line up full of star like Ravindra Jdeja, D Bravo and Sam Curran.

While Jadeja is still out injured, Bravo and Curran are likely to makeit the starting XI and Gowtham could come in if Jadeja does not achieve match fitness.
