The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 auction saw a large number of established players who were unable to find any buyers. With Martin Guptill and Tim Southee not fraturing in any of the wishlist, it was not quite expected. With the auction done and dusted, here’s a look at the overseas unsold players who will give a tough fight to any of the eight teams.

Martin Guptill

Martin Guptill:

Guptill has always been deemed as one of the most fiery opener in cricket but his lack of ability to perform in the IPL has been a major set back. With 270 runs from 13 matches, his impact has been very minimal and that is the reason why he didn’t find any bidders during the auction.

Evin Lewis

Evin Lewis:

West Indies players are always opted when it comes to T20 cricket and when the player is as fierce as Lewis, the demand skyrockets. However, regardless of playing a number of brilliant knocks for Mumbai Indians in the past, he was ignored.

Alex Hales

Alex Hales:

Hales is a tested talent when it comes to T20 cricket but lack of games in the IPL proved to be the reason behind the lack of bids for the Englishmen. He featured for Sunrisers last season but was able to amass only 148 runs in six matches.

Colin Ingram

Colin Ingram:

Delhi Capitals invested 6.40 crores to get Ingram on board in the previous auction. But the 33-year-old failed to live up to his price tag. The southpaw cumulated only 184 runs in 12 matches during the last edition and this year, be was not picked by any of the teams.

Shai Hope

Shai Hope:

The West Indies international has been the main force for is team in almost all formats. Hope, who had a base price of Rs 50 lakh, not long ago knocked a century in the first ODI against India in Chennai on Sunday but that did not proved to be enough to make him a lucrative option for the teams.

Ben Cutting

Ben Cutting:

Cutting, who has proved to be a dependable all-rounder in the shortest format of the game and his heroics in the Big Bash League is quite well known. He has featured for various IPL teams over the years and has played major role in guiding Sunrisers to the title in 2016. However, he has not been consistent lately and as a result, he was unsold.

Colin De Grandhomme

Colin De Grandhomme:

Grandhomme, who has featured for KKR and RCB, was the first foriegn player to go unsold. The Kiwi all-rounder was not able to have an impact last year and that resulted in RCB releasing him at the end of the season.

Adam Zampa

Adam Zampa:

Zampa has been on and off for the Aussie’s and when it comes to Big Bash, he is highly rated as a frequent wicket taker. His time with Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017 was also not too bad but for the second time, he was not picked by any team.

Tim Southee

Tim Southee:

It came as a surprise that non of the teams went for the experienced pacer. Southee who has proved his worth on the global stage. Previously, Southee was part of CSK during their victorious campaign in 2011 and he had later featured for Rajasthan Royals and RCB but the pacer was unable to produce any magic.

Noor Ahmad

Noor Ahmad:

The 15-year-old Afghanistan bowler was a mouth for all ahead of the auction. He is a left arm spinner, a commodity which always finds bidders in the T20 format and he was called up for trials for Rajasthan Royals.

Alzarri Joseph

Alzarri Joseph:

The IPL teams are always in the hunt for cricketers who have proven their mettle in the competition and that makes the lack of bids for Alzarri. He scalped 6 wickets in three match with the figures of 10.03 with 6/12.
