Richard Madley the star auctioneer from the Indian Premiere League has been dropped by BCCI for the 2019 edition of the cash rich tournament. Madley has been replaced by United Kingdom’s Hugh Edmeades who will be the gavel master for IPL 2019.

Richard Madley revealed that BCCI did not invite him to conduct the auction in a post on social media platform Twitter.

Madley tweeted, “Thank You for your kind wishes following the news that I am to be replaced as the Indian Premiere League auctioneer. To be clear this was not my decision, I was not invited to conduct IPL auction by BCCI. In cricket terms I have been dropped”.

Indian Premiere League fans were not happy following the announcement that came on Twitter. A Twitter user wrote, “BCCI is firing legends – You, Anil Kumble and Ramesh Powar”, another user replied to Madley’s tweet and said, “India will miss you on 18 December Richard Madley”.

After being replaced by Hugh Edmeades for the upcoming IPL auction Richard said that, selling MS Dhoni in the first auction is still a “career highlight” for him. Dhoni was sold to Chennai Super Kings for 1.5 million in 2008.

The auction for the 2019 Indian Premiere League edition will be held on December 18 and the venue was also changed by BCCI recently from Bengaluru to Jodhpur. Over 1,000 players have registerd themselves for the auction among them 242 are overseas players.
