Indian Premier League auction is bout to start and its already trending everywhere. United Kingdom’s Hugh Edmeades will replace the ever-present IPL auctioneer Richard Madley from this year. When BCCI announced the news it came as a shock for many. For the past 10 years Richard had been the gavel master for IPL auctions but this time Hugh will take his place.
Edmeades has over 30 years of experience of conducting auctions all over the worldstarting from 1984. Indian Premier League released a new video of Hugh welcoming everyone to the auctions in Jaipur. This year’s IPL auction has been shifted to Jaipur from Bengaluru. The auction will start from 3 pm and will go on till 9 pm.
The outgoing IPL auctioneer Richard Madley in a sad tweet said, “Thank You for your kind wishes following the news that I am to be replaced as the Indian Premier League auctioneer, To be clear this was not my decision. I was not invited to conduct IPL auction by BCCI, In cricket terms I have been dropped.”
