Ahead of Cauvery protest by farmers in Chennai the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly decided to shift the IPL matches that have been scheduled to be held in Chennai's Chepauk Stadium. According to a report in Financial Express, the decision was taken by BCCI after the CSK vs KKR match at Chepauk on Friday. During the match, there was tight security set up as about 4000 policemen guarded the stadium.

Despite the tight security, there were incidents reported of a few people hurling shoes on the ground. The police had detained three fans in connection with the case.

According to Deccan Chronicle, Slippers fell near CSK fielder Ravindra Jadeja who was fielding at long-on. The incident occurred when the 8th over was in progress with the KKR batting.

The Chepauk or MA Chidambaram Stadium is the home ground of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings and was to host 7 matches this season.

Earlier, Velamurugan had stated that he would not allow organizing the IPL match in Chennai and threaten to leave the snake inside the stadium during the match.

Protesters say when the farmers of the state are facing many problems, the IPL should not be organized in the state. People are angry about the Cauvery water dispute, so at this time organizing this game is not right.
