Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings played a very crucial match yesterday. Chennai won the toss and chose to field first. The decision seemed wise until the opening pair from Punjab started destroying Chennai's bowling attack. Chris Gayle along with KL Rahul started adding runs to the scoreboard and proved Dhoni's decision to bowl first wrong.
KL Rahul hit 37 runs off 22 balls whereas, Gayle, playing his first match of the IPL season 11 hit 63 runs off just 33 balls. Chris Gayle hit 4 long sixes and 7 fours. Gayle hit a six, so long that Preity Zinta was left awe-struck after looking at the shot hit by Gayle. The left-handed batsmen are known for their destructive batting style but Chris Gayle was not given a chance to bat in the first match.
Supported with Chris Gayle's destructive batting Punjab managed to put a decisive total of 198 runs for Chennai Super kings. Gayle was even awarded the man of the match award for playing the fanstastic innings.
However, CSK's skipper Dhoni took the charge and started hitting runs and it almost seemed as if Dhoni will take his team past Kings XI Punjab. But CSK fell short of 5 runs despite Dhoni's fantastic effort.
