Indian fast bowlers scripts unique record in day-night Test win against Bangladesh

Indian fast bowling unit created a distinctive record in India’s first ever day-night Test in Eden Gardens as it is the first home Test win for India where spinners didn’t take a single wicket in the match.

India outmaneuvered the visitors Bangladesh in the first ever pink ball Test match of both teams in Kolkata. India won the series by an innings and 46 runs and ended the game in just three days, that too in the first session of day 3.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first. It was India’s fast bowling unit, who were on their toes through out the innings and bundled out Bangladesh for a platry score of 106 runs in their first innings. In reply, the men in blue put up 347 runs for the loss of nine wickets before declaring the first innings.

In the second Bangladesh innings it was again the same story for the Indian fast bowling unit. Again they bundled out Bangladesh for just 195 runs.

This is the first instance for the men in blue in home where they win a Test match without a single wicket scalped by spinners. Ravichandran Ashwin didn’t get a single over to bowl in the first innings. This shows the supremacy of India’s fast bowling unit led by Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav.

All-inclusive in the match Ishant Sharma scalped nine wickets, while Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Shami took 8 and 2 wickets respectively.
