After the dramatic draw of the first Test match of the three-match series between India and Sri Lanka, India won the second Test match with an inning and 239 runs. On the fourth day of the third Test match, Indian skipper Virat Kohli and India's head coach Ravi Shastri was quite confident that India will win the match when four Islanders were sent back to pavilion just at the score of 35 runs. Every cricket expert and cricket Pandit was expecting the scoreline of the series will be 2-0 instead of it the Sri Lankan team managed to draw the third Test match with their fighting spirit.

The mature batting skills displayed by Dhananjaya de Silva, Niroshan Dickwella and Roshen Silva helped Islanders to draw the third Test match. Not just this, but with their batting skills they also warned the Indian squad not to take them for granted for the upcoming One Day International and T20I series.

Even though Indian squad were not happy with the outcome of the third Test match, yet there was happiness on the face of cricket fans as it was nine consecutive series win by Indian team.

1- Virat Kohli is insatiable

The year 2017 will be considered as one of the best calendar years of Indian skipper Virat Kohli and his captaincy. In this year and in the three-match series between India and Sri Lanka, the skipper managed to shatter so many records. In the final Test match between India and Sri Lanka, Virat hit the second double century and the 6th double century of his career and by doing so he shattered the record of cricket great Brian Lara for the maximum number of double centuries by a captain. By hitting two consecutive centuries Virat had become sixth overall and second Indian to do so.

2- Indian squad equals the record of Australia of Nine consecutive series win

As the third Test match was declared draw and the scoreline of the series showed 1-0, Indian team equaled the record of Australia of nine consecutive series win. Virat Kohli's boys have not lost any series from the year 2015.

3- Ravichandran Ashwin becomes the fastest to achieve the land mark of 300 wickets

In the second Test match against Sri Lanka Indian spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin had broken Australian pacer Dennis Lillee's record. Ashwin has taken only 54 matches to achieve this feat.

4- High voltage drama on the Kotla ground

In the series decider match between India and Sri Lanka, a high voltage drama was seen on the ground. In the first inning, when Indian squad was batting then the game was stopped many times because Sri Lankan players were not feeling comfortable due to pollution. Due to high-class drama on the ground, Virat Kohli was forced to declare the Indian inning just at the score of 536-7. Even in the second inning of the match, viewers witnessed the same thing as within the five over of the match Sri Lankan players were once again seen wearing masks. The pacer Mohammed Shami and Suranga Lakmal were also seen vomiting on the ground due to pollution.

5- Both Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma justified their selection

When the Indian Test squad was announced for the three-match Test series against Sri Lanka, a lot was said about their selection. But in the second Test match both the Sharma's made their grand come back. In the first inning of the Test match, Ishant Sharma picked three wickets and even in the second inning he bagged two crucial wickets. His wickets were important because he managed to grab 5 wickets on a spinner dominated ground. The batting superstar of India, even Rohit also made his grand comeback known by hitting unbeaten 102 runs.
