After resting from the one-day series against Sri Lanka, now it uncertain that Indian skipper Virat Kohli will play in the T20 series and the final decision will be taken in this matter.
An official of the BCCI, which has information on selection matters said, “Virat has told the selectors that he needs some time to take a call on whether he will be playing the T20s or not. That's reason why they have not announced the T20 squad,” a BCCI official, privy to selection matters, told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
“Virat has some personal commitments till December 12. Post that, whether he would like to take rest or just play T20s will be his call completely,” he added.
Three T20 matches against Sri Lanka will be played on 20, 22 and 24 December respectively in Cuttack, Indore and Visakhapatnam. The team management, with the presence of national selection committee and chief coach Ravi Shastri and Kohli, will decide on this issue during the team selection for the Tests in South Africa in New Delhi this week.
It has also been revealed that during the selection committee meeting, there may be detailed discussions about preparations for South Africa tour.
