After a couple of morale-crushing defeats in the first two Tests (31 runs at Edgbaston) and (innings defeat at the Lord's), Virat Kohli registered a memorable victory in the third Test in Nottingham by 203 runs which helped them to bounce back in the five-match Test series.
India bowled out England for 246 on the opening day of the fourth Test match at The Ageas Bowl cricket Stadium in Southampton. In five Test match series, this is the first time in Test cricket five different Indian bowlers have scalped 10-plus wickets each in a same Test series.

After Sunil Gavaskar, Virat Kohli becomes the fastest Indian batsman to complete 6,000 runs in Test cricket. Kohli achieve this milestone in his 119 innings(70 Tests) while Sunil Gavaskar achieve this milestone in 117 innings (65 Tests), Virender Sehwag in 123 innings (123 Tests), Rahul Dravid in 125 innings (73 Tests) and Sachin Tendullkar in 120 innings (76 Tests).

With India trailing by 227 runs, Indian opening batsman K L Rahul scored 11 runs and Shikhar Dhawan scored 3 runs on the crease at stumps. Earlier, Indian pacers were right on the mark from the start as they took wickets at regular intervals. Jasprit Bumrah (2/21), Ishant Sharma (1/7), Hardik Pandya (1/16) and Mohammed Shami (51/2) help India to bind up England batting line up in the opening Test.
