India U-19 all-rounder who played with Virat Kohli shines at CBSE boards too

India Under-19 all-rounder Shubhang Hegde shows that it is possible to balance your studies and cricketing career simultaneously by excelling at CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) board exams. Shubhang scored 72.4 percent in commerce stream in his class 12th board exams this year.

Shubhang studied in Delhi Public School (South) and is a resident of Kammanahalli managed his studies along with playing cricket. Shubhang played for Belagavi Panthers in Karnataka Premier League. Shubhang has bowled to the likes of Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane along side Kuldeep Yadav.


The Bengaluru boy made his international U-19 debut for India in March this year which coincided with his board exams. The young lad was selected for a quadrangular series between India A, India B, South Africa U-19 and Afghanistan U-19.

“I went for accountancy tuitions every day, but managed to study the other subjects on my own,” said Shubhang. Shubhang also added that the pressure during the exams was more than play professional cricket.

Shubhang’s father is a cricket coach and his mother is a doctor and yoga teacher. Shubhang has played only one first-class match for Karnataka against Baroda. He made his debut for Karnataka in January 2019.

Shubhang wants to pursue Bachelors in Business Administration (BBA) from St. Joseph’s college of commerce, Bengaluru. He also dreams to play for India someday.
