On 21 Septemer, Indian cricket team led by Virat Kohli dethroned South Africa from the number one spot in ICC ODI ranking. The men-in-blue defeated Australia in their second consecutive ODI match by 50 runs at Eden Garden in Kolkata in the five-match series. This was 9th consecutive win by Virat Kohli's boys in limited over match series.
The Men in Blue are already leading in the ICC Test rankings.
The brilliant performance by Indian Skipper and bowlers helped India in defeating Australia on 21 September. Even after restricting Indian batters at the score of 252, Steve Smith's boys were unable to beat India.
Other than Australian skipper Steve Smith who scored 59 off 79 deliveries and all-rounder Marcus Stoinis who scored 62 off 65 balls, no other Australian batsman was able to perform well in front of India's spinner Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Earlier, after winning the toss Virat Kohli chose to bat first. Indian opener Ajinkya Rahane looked in terrific form and the cricketer scored 55 runs off 64 balls. After Rahane, Indian Skipper Kohli took the charge of Indian inning and scored 92 runs off 107 balls.
