It was on this day 13 years ago, former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh created history in the T20I as he hit six sixes in an over against England in the T20I World Cup in 2017.
The exuberant batsman hit six sixes in pacer Stuart Broad’s over and got his half-century in just 12 balls, which is the fastest in the shortest format of the game. In the game, the men in blue had won the toss and elected to bat. Yuvraj Singh came to the crease after Robin Uthappa’s dismissal and displayed a brilliant innings to help India post 218.
However, team India went on to win the match by 18 runs, India were able to win the first ICC T20 World Cup in 2007.
In 2011, Yuvraj Singh once again was phenomenal for the men in blue’s World Cup triumph as he became the only all-rounder to score more than 300 runs and take 15 wickets in a single World Cup. The milestone had four man of the match and one man of the series awards.
