Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli was spotted chewing chewing gum during the national anthem on the first day of the first Test against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Due to the rain, the game started late.
Even toss got delayed and happened at 1 pm (IST). Sri Lankan cricket team captain Dinesh Chandimal won the toss and decided to ball against India.
Meanwhile, the video showing Kohli eating chewing gum, went viral on social media while national anthem was going on in the background. Though it is the moral duty of every citizen to stand straight while singing national anthem.

Although, this is not the first incident that any cricketer was found not to be attentive at the time of national anthem. Earlier, the off-spinner Parvez Rasool, who started international career during the Twenty20 series in England, was also found to be doing something similar. After which, Rasool had to suffer a fierce reaction of the fans on social media. Although Parvez, who came from Jammu and Kashmir, described his criticism as "heartbreaking".
The beginning of the Indian team batting was not good enoough as on the first ball, opener KL Rahul caught by Sri Lankan wicket keeper. After Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan was managed to scored only 8 runs. Then After Dhawan, Kohli got lost his wicket on duck.
