Virat Kohli's men is all set to clinch the Test series at the Edgbaston cricket ground in Birmingham on Wednesday after losing the ODI series against England in England.
In the ICC Test ranking Virat Kohli (903 points) is just behind the former Australian skipper Steve Smith (929 points) who is banned for 12 months in the ball tampering scandal.
Virat Kohli, who trails Smith by only 26 points, has the opportunity to overtake the disgraced Australian star if he has a strong series in England.
In his Test career Smith scored 6199 runs at an average of 61.38 from 117 innings including 23 tons and 2 Tests ton. While Virat Kohli scored 5554 runs at an average of 53.4 from 112 innings including 21 tons and 6 double tons.
If Virat Kohli performed well in the upcoming series then he might be in the top in the list of ICC Test rankings.
