Virat Kohli's men needs needs a further 84 runs to reach their winning target of 194 at stumps on the third day of the first Test against England at Edgbaston cricket ground in Birmingham.
Indian paceman Ishant Sharma registered his second five-wicket haul in England and conceeded 51 runs. He became the third player after Kapil Dev and Chetan Sharma who scalped five wickets in one inning at Edgbaston cricket ground.
Outside the Asia Ravichandra Ashwin had the best spell ever of his career. He scalped seven wickets and conceded 121 runs. He also completed 200 wickets under the leadership of Virat Kohli. Ravichandra Ashwin scalped 323 wickets in 59 games in his Test career.
Ishant Sharma's fifer on English soil on friday helped India to bowl out the hosts for 180 in the second innings, leaving the visitor to chase 194 runs to registered the victory.
Ishant Sharma's stunning performance earned him praise from the master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar who hailed his fantastic effort and reckoned it reminded him of his famous 7/74 at Lord's in 2014.
