Indian opener and vice-captain Rohit Sharma is on verge of creating history in second T20I match against Australia in Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The 31-year-old cricketer will have a chance to break Martin Guptill and Chris Gayle’s record of most number of sixes in T20Is.
Rohit has 102 sixes under his name while Martin Guptill and Chris Gayle share the record with 103 sixes. Rohit is the only Indian cricketer to cross 100 sixes in T20Is while Yuvraj Singh is the other Indian batsman with 74 sixes to feature in the top-10 list.
Rohit was in decent form in the T20I series against New Zealand, notching up the scores of 50 and 38 but couldn’t continue it in the first T20I against Australia. Rohit was bowled for just 5 runs in the first T20I in Visakhapatnam. The Mumbai-batsman also has a brilliant strike rate of 138.04 and has proved to be a match-winner for the Indian team on plenty of occasions.
Rohit, who leads the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, has an experience of playing 93 T20Is under his belt. He has scored 2,326 in this format with an average of 32.76.
