Ind vs Aus: Australia beat India by 35 runs in 5th ODI, Kangaroos win the series by 3-2

Australia won the fifth and final ODI by 35 runs and by this they have won the five-match ODI series by 3-2. After winning the toss Australian skipper Aaron Finch decided to bat first. Opener Usman Khawaja once again proved to be the vital member as he scored his second ODI century in the series and second overall. Khawaja hit 106-ball 100 before getting dismissed by Bhuveneshwar Kumar.

Aaron Finch scored 27 off 43 before Ravindra Jadeja bowled him out. Peter Handscomb to played an important knock as he scored 60-ball 52 before Mohammed Shami dismissed him. All-rounder Glenn Maxwell couldn’t do much as he was dismissed by Jadeja for just 1 run. Marcus Stoinis and Ashton Turner both scored 20, while Jhye Richardson scored 29 as Australia set 273 runs target in 50 overs.


Bhuveneshwar Kumar was the highest wicket-taker for India as he claimed 3 wickets from the 10 overs he bowled. Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each, while Kuldeep Yadav took one. Jasprit Bumrah and Kedar Jadhav went wicket-less.

In the second innings, opener Shikhar Dhawan couldn’t continue his form from the last game as he was dismissed for just 12 runs by Pat Cummins. Rohit Sharma was looking good as he hit 89-ball 56 and in the process he scored 8,000 runs in ODI cricket. Sharma was dismissed by Adam Zampa in the 29th over. Skipper Virat Kohli was dismissed by Marcus Stoinis for just 20 runs, which is not good as per his batting standards are concerned.

Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant and all-rounder Vijay Shankar both were dismissed for 16 runs by Nathan Lyon and Adam Zampa respectively. Ravindra Jadeja came in and was sent back to pavilion for a golden duck by Zampa. Kedar Jadhav and Bhuveneshwar Kumar notched up a 80 run partnership stand before the Indian seamer got out for 54-ball 46 and Jadhav in the next ball for 57-ball 44.

For Australia, Adam Zampa scalped three wickets from 10 overs and gave away just 46 runs. Pat Cummins, Marcus Stoinis and Jhye Richardson took two wickets each, while Nathan Lyon took one.
