In 144 years of Test cricket history, New Zealand becomes the first team to achieve this record

New Zealand on Monday became the first cricket team to win a Test match with a margin of four runs in the format's 144-year history. This was the fourth-narrowest margin of victory by runs in Test cricket history.

Chasing 176 for a win in their second innings, Pakistan on Day 3 were 139 runs behind with all their wickets intact. But on Day 4 debutant Ajaz Patel became the reason of Pakistan's batting collapse, dismissing Imam-ul-Haq at start of Pakistan's innings on Day 4.

Pakistan were guilty of a suicidal run out and poor shot selections. On winning the match by 4 runs New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson said, "it is a great advertisement for cricket".

Despite their 2-0 win against Australia in Test series last month, Pakistan held an upper hand coming into the series against New Zealand but their batsmen have let them down in every aspect. Last year in November Rangana Herath snatched a thrilling 21 runs victory from Pakistan in Abu Dhabi.
