ICC World T20: Rohit Sharma backs the Indian women's team ahead of their match against New Zealand

India will look to open their ICC Women's T20 World Cup campaign against New Zealand in Guyana today. The Indian team will be led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and her deputy Smriti Mandhana. They have a solid batting line-up including Mithali Raj as she will be playing her last ICC tournament.

The Indian skipper is in brilliant form, which she displayed in the warm-up match against England. Kaur scored 62 runs in just 32 balls, with 6 fours and 3 sixes.


India will also bank on their spin bowlers as the veteran fast bowler Jhulan Goswami retired from the game. The spin bowling attack is led by Poonam Yadav, who took three wickets against England on Wednesday.

A win against the Kiwis in the opening match will boost the confidence of the young Indian side led by newly appointed coach Ramesh Powar.

Indian batsman Rohit Sharma who is currently leadind their side in T20Is against West Indies in absence of Virat Kohli took to twitter to wish the Women's cricket team a good luck.
