England all-rounder Ben Stokes played like a real three-dimensional player yesterday against South Africa in World Cup opener. Ben performed well in all three departments with batting, bowling and fielding being something very exceptional.

Ben Stokes scored runs, Stokes took wickets, he also took a couple of mind-blowing catches and was part of a run-out. In the 35th over of the game when Adil Rashid came into bowl, Ben Stokes back-pedalled and dived, held a brilliant one-handed catch in the deep to dismiss South African all-rounder Andile Pehlukwayo for just 24 runs (25).

The International Cricket Council (ICC) took to its official Twitter handle to share the picture of Stokes taking the brilliant catch. The caption on the post read, “Ben Stokes has just taken one of the greatest catches you will EVER see!”

Earlier in the game, Ben Stokes scored 89 runs off just 79 balls and was also part of Dwaine Pretorious’ run-out. Stokes along with skipper Eoin Morgan dismissed Pretorious in the 27th over of the second innings when the Proteas were trailing at 144 runs.

England defeated South Africa by a huge margin of 104 runs in the first match of the tournament. England’s four top-order batsmen scored fluent half-centuries this proves how lethal they can be at their home conditions.
