Sachin Tendulkar expresses his gratitude to PM Modi for cricket diplomacy

Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar expresses his gratitude to PM Modi for promoting cricket, as the Prime Minister gifted a bat signed by the Indian national team to the Maldives President.

“The gesture was a good example og cricket diplomacy during the ongoing World Cup,” said Sachin


"Thank you for promoting cricket, @narendramodi ji. Good example of cricket diplomacy during the @cricketworldcup," Sachin Tendulkar tweeted.

“Hoping to see Maldives on the cricketing map soon,” he added.

 

In his recent visit to Maldives PM Modi had gifed a bat signed by the players of the Indian national team to the Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

"Connected by cricket! My friend, President Solih is an ardent cricket fan, so I presented him a cricket bat that has been signed by Team India playing at the CWC2019," PM Modi had tweeted.

“India will help promote cricket in Malvives and achieve President Ibrahim Solih’s dream to take fourth sports development in the country,” said PM Modi.

“India is currently helping in training cricket players in Maldives and bringing the country’s team up to the required quality,” the Foreign Ministry had added.

“India is also considering to build a cricket stadium in Maldivies,” Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale had said.

He also asserted that the foreign ministry is working with the BCCI to help train Maldivian cricketer.

"A team from the BCCI visited the Maldives earlier in May for training of Maldivian cricketers, organising coaching programmes and supply of kits," he said.
