The England Women Cricket team on 23 July defeated India to clinch victory by nine runs in a thrilling final of the ICC Women's World Cup.
The women-in-blue had a dream run in the tournament as they reached the final after beating six-time world champions Australia in the semi-final. Team blue lost the final match but won million of hearts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and congratulated the Indian Women Cricket team for the tenacity and skill shown throughout the tournament.
Our women cricketers gave their best today. They have shown remarkable tenacity & skill through the World Cup. Proud of the team! @BCCIWomen

India's Poonam Raut was batting brilliantly even as India looked all set to achieve the target of 229. But as soon as the 27-year-old opener fell lbw to Shrubsole for 86, the whole innings came crashing down like a deck of cards.
Shubsole bowled Rajeshwari Gayakwad to give England the win.
India were 191 for three at one point, and needed 11 to win from the final 12 balls, but got all out for 219, clearly giving away the game to the host.
Twitter parade applauded the efforts of team India and credited them for the brilliant show. Here are some of the tweets:
