Amidst all the retirement rumours about former Indian captain MS Dhoni, an official from Chennai Super Kings has given a big update on ‘captain cool’. While talking to Mumbai Mirror, the official said that MS Dhoni will lead the Indian Premier League franchise in 2020 as well.
“Whatever may be the speculation, he will play for us next year,” a source close to Super Kings was quoted as saying to Mumbai Mirror.
As far as Dhoni’s international retirement is concerned, it will be clear next month when India will tour the Caribbean for Test, ODI and T20I series. When Indian skipper Virat Kohli was asked about Dhoni’s retirement he said that Dhoni has not talked about it yet.
In World Cup 2019, Dhoni scored 273 runs at an average of 45.50 and a strike rate of 87.78 including a couple of half-centuries including in India’s semi-final loss against New Zealand.
Dhoni, who has led Chennai Super Kings to three IPL titles and nine silver medals has not announced his retirement yet. But fans are already speculating his retirement for India’s loss against New Zealand in World Cup semi-final. Dhoni’s retirement has become a national debate as he turned 38 earlier this month and there is concern about him taking part in 2023 World Cup.
