There is good news for Kieron Pollard fans ahead of 2019 World Cup as the West Indies star is set to join the team for the upcoming 50-over tournament. The fans of recently crowned champions Mumbai Indians will also be elated by the news as they will see their favorite West Indian in action.
Teams are allowed to make changes in their 15-member squad till May 23 without any permission from the International Cricket Council (ICC). According to Guardian Media Sports, the West Indian selection panel has said that the inclusion of Pollard in the squad is due to his experience of playing at big stages.
The all-rounder has played 101 ODIs and scored 2,289 runs at an average of 25.71. The right-hander has three centuries and nine half-centuries and enjoys a strike rate of 92.89 while he has picked 50 wickets at 39.12 with an economy rate of 5.74.
Jason Holder was named the captain of the squad earlier with another West Indian star Chris Gayle as their vice-captain. West Indies have two World Cup victories to their name as they won the first two tournaments in 1975 and 1979 under the captaincy of Viv Richards.
The World Cup 2019 will start from May 30 in England and Wales. West Indies will play their first World Cup match against Pakistan on May 31.
