Cricketer turned politician Gautam Gambhir hit back at former Indian cricketers Bishan Singh Bedi and Chetan Chauhan after Delhi pacer Navdeep Saini made a dream international debut on Saturday during first T20I against West Indies in Florida.
Gautam Gambhir on Twitter slammed Bishan Bedi and Chetan Chauhan after the debutant Navdeep Saini claimed two wickets in his first over itself, he dismissed Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmeyar in successive deliveries.
Kudos Navdeep Saini on ur India debut. U already have 2 wkts even before u have bowled— @BishanBedi & @ChetanChauhanCr. Their middle stumps are gone seeing debut of a player whose cricketing obituary they wrote even before he stepped on the field, shame!!! @BCCI pic.twitter.com/skD77GYjk9

"Kudos Navdeep Saini on ur India debut. U already have 2 wkts even before u have bowled— @BishanBedi & @ChetanChauhanCr. Their middle stumps are gone seeing debut of a player whose cricketing obituary they wrote even before he stepped on the field, shame!!!" tweeted Gambhir.
Later in the final over, Navdeep Saini went on to take a wicket without giving away any run finishing with a figure of 3/17 in his four overs spell.
In 2017, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) officials was reluctant to add Saini in their squad. Nevertheless, the 26 year old, who comes from Haryana, found support in Gautam Gambhir following an impressive net session. This is not the first time that the former Indian opener has hit back at Bedi and Chauhan over Saini’s case.
Previously, Gautam Gambhir had slammed them when Navdeep Saini was selected for one of the Test against Afghanistan.
"My 'condolences' to few DDCA members, @BishanBedi @ChetanChauhanCr on selection of 'outsider' Navdeep Saini to India squad. Am told black armbands are available in Bangalore too for INR 225 per roll!!! Sir, just remember Navdeep is an Indian first then comes his domicile," Gambhir had tweeted.
