Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir lands in trouble. As per recent media reports, Delhi court has issued warrant against former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir in a fraud case. The Saket Court on Wednesday has issued a Warrant (Bailable) in real estate fraud case.
The former Delhi Capitals skipper was the brand ambassador of a project of real estate group Rudra Buildwell Reality Pvt. Ltd. Reportedly the firm and its director Mukesh Khurana and HR Infracity Pvt Ltd (director Gautam Mehta) have been accused of cheating, misappropriation and conspiracy of a huge sum of money of various investors who had invested in flats in the NCR area, reported TimesNow.
According to reports, crores amount were collected from the investors projecting Gambhir's name as the brand ambassador by Rudra Group. The firm, however, failed to fulfil the promises on time and were accused of allegedly cheating investors in a building project in Indirapuram.
Meanwhile, earlier, the former cricketer filed a revision plea in the case and argued that he was merely a brand ambassador and was alone, not sufficient to woo the buyers. However, it was rejected by the court. He also mentioned that he has not been charge-sheeted in the case.
Gambhir made his one-day international debut for India in 2003 against Bangladesh and made his Test debut against Australia in 2004.
Gambhir was an integral member of team India and played an important part in winning both 2007 ICC T20 World Cup and 2011 ICC World Cup. Gambhir scored 75 and 97 runs respectively in the finals of both the tournament.
