Former Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis could be Pakistan's bowling coach: reports

Former Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis has put forward a request to the Pakistan Cricket Board to consider his candidacy for the post of the Pakistan cricket team’s bowling coach. As per Geo News, Waqar Younis is the most high profile candidate to the role.

The Pakistan cricket body had announced that they were accepting applications for the coaching staff of the senior men’s team after deciding against renewing the contract of current staff including head coach Mickey Arthur. The deadline to submit those application is August 26.


Misbah-ul-Haq is one of those reported to be competing for the role of the Paksitan head coach. While, other reports in Pakistan media says that Waqar Younis might be interested in the role himself. Misbah however is being viewed as the favourite to succeed Mickey Arthur and is currently with the national side for a 17 days camp that began on 22nd August,

Prior to this, Waqar has been the team’s head coach twice, his last term was between May 2014 and April 2016.
