Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq backed Virat Kohli-led team India to beat his home country in the upcoming World Cup 2019 clash. India will play their arch-rival Pakistan on June 16 in Manchester as this will be their seventh World Cup clash.
India has won on all six occasions before when they met Pakistan in the World Cup. India has got the upper hand over men in green in ICC tournaments. However, India lost to Pakistan by a huge margin of 180 runs in the Champions Trophy finals in 2017 held in England.
With that in mind, Misbah-ul-Haq pointed out that India shouldn’t take Pakistan lightly even though they are a better team than Sarfaraz Ahmed’s Pakistan. Misbah said, “Pakistan is a dangerous team. In cricket, you cannot say anything. This Pakistan team is capable. There was a collapse in the last match. India has a better chance.”
“Given the rivalry and intensity, you never know what can happen in World Cups. Pakistan were strong in the 1990s yet India would win every time in World Cups,” Misbah added.
Pakistan always succumbs to the pressure that the game brings in as pointed out by cricket pundits in past. It will be interesting to see whether they can break India’s undefeated record this year.
Pakistan has already lost their first World Cup match against West Indies and will face England in their second match on June 3.
India, on the other hand, will start their World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 5 and will play Australia and New Zealand before meeting Pakistan.
