Indian skipper Virat Kohli leads the national side by example and motivates many young players in the squad with his sublime batting skills and fitness.
Despite that former Indian cricketer Farokh Engineer perceives that Virat Kohli has huge impact on selection process and the selectors, as Farokh claims that he saw selectors getting Anushka Sharma cups of tea during the ICC World Cup 2019.
The former wicket-keeper was very saddened with the MSK Prasad led selection committee, as he termed them as Mickey Mouse selection committee with no relevant qualification for the job.
"We have got a Mickey Mouse selection committee. Virat Kohli has a major impact (in the process) which is very good. But how are the selectors qualified? Between them, have they played about 10-12 Test matches," Engineer told The Times Of India.
"I didn't even know one of the selectors during the World Cup and I asked him who the hell he was, because he was wearing the India blazer and he said he was one of the selectors. All they were doing was getting Anushka Sharma (Kohli's wife) cups of tea," Engineer added.
Farokh Engineer feels that former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar should be appointed in the committee for the advancement of the sport in the country.
"I feel people with the stature of Dilip Vengsarkar should be in the selection committee," he said.
Currently, the selection committee has been under scanner by fans and experts mainly because of surprise incisions and exclusions of late. MSK Prasad, the chief selector, had gained everyone’s notice when he gave grounds for Vijay Shankar’s selection over Ambati Rayudu with a three dimensional comment ahead of the World Cup 2019.
