England all-rounder Ben Stokes who led his team to their maiden World Cup title is likely to receive Knighthood for his stellar performance in the final. United Kingdom’s Prime Ministerial candidates Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt said they would go to the maximum extent to make sure that Ben Stokes receives ‘Knighthood’.

Ben Stokes remained unbeaten at 84 runs to help his team tie the match. England lost a few early wickets in the game when Stokes came in and stabled their innings with Jos Buttler with a 100-run partnership.

Johnson and Hunt are likely to replace UK’s outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May. “I will give dukedoms, whatever - I will go to the maximum, too, what, the Garter King of Arms. Yes is the answer, absolutely,” Johnson was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.

England won their maiden World Cup title and became the third team in the world to win it at home after India and Australia. England beat New Zealand in the final after a nail-biting thriller of two tied game. England was awarded the cup because of their superior boundary count.

The match was a tie as both the teams scored 241 runs reach. A first super over of ODI cricket was played and it ended in a tie as well with both teams scoring 15 runs each.
