Australia’s Ashton Turner who made his Indian Premier League debut for Rajasthan Royals is yet to score a run in the tournament. He now holds the most shameful record in Twenty20 cricket as he became the first batsman in the history of the format to score five ducks in a row.
Ashton made his debut against Kings XI Punjab in the IPL and has played three matches so far. However, he has not scored a single run from the three matches and got out off the first ball he faced in all of them. This is a weird and shameful record to hold for a player of Ashton’s caliber.
In IPL he was dismissed for a duck against Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals and before that he was dismissed for zero run against India in a T20 bilateral series and Sydney Strikers in the Big Bash League.
However, there have been three consecutive ducks in the IPL before and Gautam Gambhir was the only recognised batsman in the list as he attained that feat in 2014.
There have been four consecutive ducks in T20 cricket before by 10 other batsmen but making it five is what makes Ashton Turner a shameful record holder. Ashton was benched during the five match ODI series against Pakistan in UAE and did not get a place in the World Cup squad.
Rajasthan Royals were defeated by Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets as they maintain their seventh position on the points table. Delhi Capitals however moved on top from the second position with 14 points to their name.
