Bollywood actress and the wife of Indian cricket captain, Anushka Sharma was present at the second edition of Indian Sports Honours along with her husband Virat Kohli.
Indian Sports Honours, which was started off by Sanjiv Goenka, Chairman, RP-SG roup and Virat Kohli took place at SVP Stadium in Mumbai.
Top performers in 17 sporting disciplines were honoured during the ceremony. The winner in each category were decided by ISH jury, which included Pullela Gopichand, Abhinav Bindra, Sardar Singh, Mahesh Bhupati, PT Usha and Anjali Bhagwat.
The nominations across each division were shortlisted by 200 journalist from the Sports Journalists Federation of India.
While speaking to the media at the event, the actress stated the she is proud of her husband Virat Kohli for hosting the Indian Sports Honours.
“I am associated with this award ceremony because my husband is associated with it. I think it’s a unique initiative where you give backing and support to upcoming and promising Indian athletes. I think Virat has given many reasons to be proud of but his foundation is another reason to feel prouder, because of the work being done. The awards ceremony covers all kind of sports and that increases the sporting culture,” said Anushka.
Nevertheless, Virat Kohli also went on to talk about the importance of evolving a sports culture in the country and the need to acknowledge the upcoming talent.
“I think it is necessary to recognize sporting talent in India so, I am happy this award ceremony is taking place. It also provides scholarships to emerging sporting talent which I think is important to develop a sports culture in our country,” Kohli said.

Bollywood stars like Priyanka Chopra, Madhu Chopra, Kartik Aaryan, Arjun Kapoor, Javed Akhtar and many more were present at the event.
Many sporting figures were also present at the event including Sania Mirza, Yuvraj Singh, Milkha Singh, Smriti Mandhana and Sardar Singh.
