The Ball-tampering saga has just hit one more target after the three players involved Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft was banned for 1 year each and 9 months respectively. The tampering fiasco has brought to the centre the issue of fair-play into the discussion. Also, the Australian attitude and the culture of Australian sports is facing a very fundamental question.
There have been rumours around the incident that the Australian cricket coach Darren Lehmann is a man who always wants his team to win and it is this always winning attitude that may have led to the grave mistakes Steve Smith and his comrades have committed.
Steve Smith, in a press conference, broke-down while admitting to his deeds. He also emphasized on the fact that he would not be able to forget the mistake he has made for the whole of his life. The flamboyant batsman has already lost his IPL contract.

However, the coach Darren Lehmann has also quit as the Australian cricket coach even after saying dozens of time that he won't step down in this hour of need. The Australian cricket fraternity has condemned the doings of the team extensively whereas, on the other hand, the likes of Shane Warne have termed the one year ban to be too harsh for such a mistake.
